Register a Team
Identify your Program and Organization
- Select the program in which you wish to register a team, then click the “Next” button.
- Click on the registration type that matches your team and organization.
- Renew: Use this to re-register an existing team number and letter for the same competition they competed in previously (e.g., VIQRC). Can be used to change that team’s age group in that competition (e.g., switching V5RC team 123A from middle school to high school). Click the “Renew” button next to the specific team number you wish to renew.
- Add Another Team: Use this to add an additional team alongside your existing teams in a competition (e.g., a 2nd V5RC team when you already have one or more V5RC teams registered). Click the “Add Another Team” button next to the base team number that will include the newly created team.
- Register New Organization: Use this if your organization has never had a team registered for the selected competition, has run out of available letters in an existing base number, or needs to add a new base number for a purpose allowed by the REC Foundation Organizational Policy.
- Select the Organization Type that best describes your program and check each box to indicate that your program meets the listed criteria. If you have questions, please visit the REC Foundation Organizational Policy. Click the “Next” button.
- Enter the details (name & address) of your school or organization. For K-12 Schools: Select your school in the “NCES School Search” field; if not found, mark that your school is not listed. Click the “Next” button.
Define Your Team
- In the team information panel, either enter in a preferred team number (2-5 digits) or allow the system to generate a number for you by clicking the ↺ symbol. If you request a team number that is already in use, you will be notified that it is unavailable.
- A VIQRC, V5RC, or VAIRC team number consists of a base number that represents a school/organization followed by a letter that represents a team within that school/organization. A VURC team is the opposite: the base identifier for a school/organization is a series of 2-5 letters followed by a single-digit number that represents a team within that school/organization.
- All teams in a single program (VIQRC, V5RC, VAIRC, or VURC) from a school or organization should have the same base number/identifier.
- If you would like to choose your team number, you can view a list of available team numbers by going to RobotEvents.com, selecting your program, and selecting the blue rectangular "Available Team Numbers" button.
- Identify the team’s grade level (see the current game manual for more information).
- Enter a phone number that can be used to reach an onsite adult during events in case of emergency.
- Identify any special needs within your team (note: this is not the same as a 504 Accommodation Request, and does not replace the need to fill out and submit that well in advance of your first event if 504-type accommodations are needed at an event).
- Select any of the listed organizations that your team is affiliated with.
- Confirm that you have read and agree to each of the listed documents. Click the “Next” button.
Complete Your Registration
- Enter the names and contact information for your team’s adult contacts, and verify that each one meets the email and age requirements. Click the “Next” button to save each contact.
- Organization/Administrative/District Contact (required)
- Primary Coach (required)
- Secondary Coach if applicable (optional)
- Financial Contact (required)
- Enter details of your team, including team and robot name, in the team profile panel. Add social media information if applicable. You can return to change this later or year-to-year. Only the team name is required.
- Click on “Finish” to continue.
- For schools and community / non-profit organizations: Attach the required proof of your organization’s status and click on “Save” or select “Continue without Uploading”. Note: If you are with a school or community / non-profit organization and select to continue without uploading, you will have to provide the required proof of your organization’s status by uploading it in the “My Team” tab in your RobotEvents.com account. It must be approved by REC Foundation staff before you will be able to register the team for an event.
- To register additional teams, repeat the process above.
- To complete registration for your team(s), please go into your RobotEvents.com cart and complete checkout with one of the listed methods. If you are unable to pay, you may select "Pay Later" to complete registration. If the team is still in your cart and the registration deadline passes, you will NOT be able to pay or compete this season. If you have questions or need to pay with a Purchase Order, email accounting@recf.org.
Note: Beginning in the 25/26 competition season, teams with unpaid purchase orders or unpaid event registrations that are 90 days past due will not be able to register for events.
